Prospectus

Avenue has an early start to the day, which is popular with working parents. Our breakfast club (for children from Reception to Y6) opens at 7.30am each morning that school is open. Children not attending breakfast club must not be on the premises before 8.10am.
Many children stay to clubs after school and full details of these are provided at the start of each term. Around 40 – 50 children attend our own after-school care, and pupils should be picked up by 6pm. Full details of breakfast club and after-school care may be found on our website.
School finishes earlier on a Friday (see below).

Years 3 – 6

The gate at Avenue Road is opened at 8.10am. Doors open at 8.20am*, and registration is prompt at 8.30am. Entry is via Avenue Road only, unless your child has a sibling in Nursery, Reception or KS1, in which case they may walk around the building from the Dorset Road playground.

Due to building work, we have made some temporary changes to collecting junior children, which will be in place until December 2015:

At the end of the day, parents collecting only Y3 or Y4 children should enter via Avenue Road, and proceed to the playground by the Jubilee building (walking on the temporary path). The path must be ‘keep left’, to avoid congestion. Please note that we are staggering times as below, so please be prompt and leave the premises quickly to help us manage any congestion.

Children in Y5 and Y6 will be brought up to the gate on Avenue Road and dismissed there by a teacher. The majority of Y5/6 pupils currently meet their parents at the gate or outside, and we believe this will be the most convenient for those parents.

Children will be brought out to the playground/gate as follows:

    Mon-Thu    Friday
Y3    3.00    2.10    Playground
Y4    3.05    2.15    Playground
Y5    3.10    2.20    Gate
Y6    3.10    2.20    Gate

Junior children who are being picked up with a younger sibling via the Dorset Road gate will be able to make their own way via the decking, to the Reception playground.

* In very heavy rain, doors will be opened before 8.20am to let children in.

Clubs and after-school care

Children in a club will be brought to the playground/path on the Avenue Road side of the school, wherever their club is taking place. Therefore, if you are picking up after a club, please enter via Avenue Road and make your way to the Jubilee playground or the area by the ‘palm trees’.

Children in Y4 and below will not be allowed to leave the premises until their parent/carer has collected them. Y5/6 may walk up to the gate themselves if agreed with their parents, and may walk home alone if we have a signed letter from a parent.

Breakfast club will take place in the room next to the training room, with entry only via Avenue Road.

After-school club will take place in the room next to the training room and the classroom at the end of that corridor. Please come to the door next to the training room to collect children (or the playground/field if they are outside).
